Ampicillin can go in NS with 8hr room temp expiration ( 48hrs refrigerated expiration at least for conc of 30mg/ml for peds at my hospital).If ampicillin is made in D5W it gets a 2 hour expiration hence why NS is more ideal.

07.06.2012· zzyzx. I have never known this but apparently amiodarone is not compatible with saline. He states that it is okay to draw it up with NS and give it fast IV push during a cardiac arrest, but that if you mix it in a bag of NS and infuse it, the drug will precipitate.
